Desta Demissie

Biography
Desta Demissie Daimo was born on August 26, 1976 in Botori “Kebele” of Tocha District which is found in Dawro Zone, Ethiopia. He attended and completed his primary and secondary education at Tocha Elementary and Junior Secondary and Waka Senior Secondary Schools, Dawro Zone. He received BA and MA degrees in Educational Leadership and Management from Addis Ababa University. Currently he is a PhD Candidate of “Educational Policy and Leadership” at Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.
Desta is a full time staff of teaching and research at Wolaita Sodo University (WSU), one of the Ethiopian public universities. In WSU, he served as a Higher Diploma Program (HDP) Coordinator, and handled the coordination works of Tarcha Campus of WSU at its very establishment phase. Before joining WSU, he worked in the education sector holding different positions: 1) Vice Head of Tocha Woreda Education Office (from April to September 2007); 2) School Supervisor (from September 2006 to March 2007); 3) Primary School Principal in Tocha and Konta Special Weredas (from September 1998 to August 2002); and 4) Primary School Teacher in Konta Special Wereda (July 1996 to August 1998).

Desta is very good at listening, speaking, writing, and reading Dawro, Amharic, and English languages. He is also excellent at report writing in the three languages. He is certified in basic computer skills, and has good experience in using computers. Especially, he has proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, SPSS, and good typing speed and accuracy. Conducting researches and exploring new ways of self-development and leadership skills are among his areas of interest. Desta is an open-minded person who is highly interested in free discussions with friends, colleagues, and any willing individuals on various academic, social, political, and other burning issues. He also enjoys reading scholarly books and journal articles, newspapers, magazines, and the Bible. Working toward the overall betterment of the general society and helping other people are among his highly valued concerns.
Finally, as a member of Dawro Intellectuals and Partners Association (DaIPA), he has no reservation to work hard toward the realization of the DIPA’s vision.
