Biography

Amenu Amboma AJele was born on April 23, 1972, in Dawuro Zone, Gena Bosa Woreda, Wozo Haylata Kebele. He attended primary school in Gena Bosa Woreda, Woldahane Primary School, from 1979 to 1985, and secondary school in Dawuro Zone, Waka Senior Secondary School, from 1986 to 1989. After completion of secondary education, he joined Hawassa College of Teachers’ Education in 1990 and graduated with a diploma in biology in 1991. After graduation he taught biology in Konta Special Woreda, Ameya Secondary School, for two years (1992-1993). In 1992, Amenu joined Arba Minch Teachers’ Institute (ATTI) as a technical assistant to teach environmental science in Dawuro and Amharic languages and taught for seven years (1992-1998). He received a BEd in Biology from Dilla University in 2000 and served as an assistant lecturer from 2000 to 2002.  Then he received an MSc. in Microbiology in 2004 from Haromaya University and has been serving as a lecturer since 2004. He also received an MA in educational psychology from Arba Minch University in 2014.

  • Besides his service in teaching, Amenu served in different capacities, like leader for building the Higher Diploma Program (HDP), coordinator for Continuous Professional Development for Higher Education (CPD for HE), coordinator for the Improving Quality of Primary Education Program (IQPEP), and offering trainings that aim at improving primary school teachers’ professional skills. Amenu is fluent in Dawuro, Amharic, and English. He is good at basic computer skills. Amenu likes working hard. He is also serving as a committee member of the Dawro Intellectuals and Partners Association (DIPA). Amenu is very enthusiastic to contribute to his country in whatever way he can.
